Book Review: Three Wishes by Barbara Delinsky

Three Wishes
Barbara Delinsky

Are you a wish maker? Do you wish upon at the first sight of evening first star, on pulling on the long end of the turkey wishbone, in secret notes written on birch bark and tossed onto campfire, and of course, over birthday candles?
If you have three wishes what would it be?

"Touching and delightful"
-Chattanooga Times

Indeed this book is heartwarming, tear-jerking, story about love and surprisingly powerful. The extra ordinary love story of Bree Miller and Tom Gates, the near death/out-of-the-body experience by Bree when she got in to an accident. The second chance she have, which granted her three wishes. It was Tom Gates who was the only witness,  Tom a renowned author who moves in Panama to find peace and soul searching. To start a new life,  he didn't expect that the accident will change his life completely, and find that he is in love with Bree. As they both consider their hearts deepest desire, they discover that they will have to take unimagined risks to truly live their dreams.

It took me by surprise how the story ends, I thought it is a happy ending, but life is full of surprises, unexpected events. Maybe second chance is all they got and they made the most out of it. True it is about taking risk in order to determine whats real from whats not. We make choices, take chances, face risk and that what makes our life journey worth it. It is a heart breaker, but it is a nice book to read.  Another book that will make you believe that true love is real.

My favorite lines from the book:

"It isn't disinterest. It's caution"-Bree Miller

"My mom used to say that its a female thing, that womens warmth is concentrated in the region of their hearts, so their extremities suffer."-Tom Gates

"Freedom is relative. So is happiness and reality and risk. Sometimes, in order to be free, we have to take risks. Sometimes in order to be happy, we have to take risks. As for what's real and what isn't. It's like beauty in the eye of the beholder. Reality is the thing for one person, and another for another. We make our reality. It can be what we want, or what we need."-Verity

"It doesn't matter if a thing is real. If the possibility is, that what counts."-Verity

"It's amazing. Two years ago, I didnt know she existed. We really only knew each other for fourteen months. Sometimes I think those months were preordained. Maybe they were all we were meant to have."-Tom Gates

"Because making her happy made me happy."-Tom Gates

"More love than mistakes."-Bree Miller

What would you wish for?
